Novak Djokovic was spotted sharing popcorn with his daughter, Tara, after his win over Ioannis Xilas in just 45 minutes during the Davis Cup World Group tie between Serbia and Greece. The Olympic gold medalist gave Serbia a 2-0 advantage in the tie.
Djokovic’s Grand Slam season in 2024 ended without any silverware, having suffered a third-round exit at the US Open not long back after losing to Alexei Popyrin. The Serb then joined his country’s Davis Cup team for their World Group 1 clash against Greece.
He produced a dominant display to thrash Ioannis Xilas 6-0, 6-1 in only 45 minutes. After the match, the Serb was seen sharing a pack of popcorn with his daughter Tara, as his wife Jelena looked on.
In a press conference back in 2022, the 37-year-old admitted that his kids help bring out his childish energy.
“I have the privilege to be a father to wonderful kids, so I try to take that childish energy and fuel my inner child because I tend to forget my inner child a lot because everything is so serious,” he said. (via People)
Djokovic’s kids, Stefan and Tara, are often in attendance at the 24-time major singles titlist’s matches, the recent being the Paris Olympics. After winning the Olympic singles gold in Paris, he joined the likes of Serena Williams, Rafael Nadal, Andre Agassi, and Steffi Graf in the list of players who won the career golden slam.
In a press conference at the 2023 Australian Open, where the Serb lifted his tenth title, he shared that his daughter has no interest in tennis. He said that she was instead inclined towards ballet and gymnastics and spins her father around all day.
“She is not into tennis at all. She’s into ballet and gymnastics. You know, she’s a really cute girl. She keeps me grounded and humble, and she spins me around every single day,” Djokovic said.
“Whenever she looks at me, I’m disarmed. Her look is the most beautiful look I’ve ever experienced in my life,” he added.
Djokovic’s US Open exit saw him lose a lot of his winners’ points from the 2023 edition. As a result, the 37-year-old slipped to fourth in the ATP rankings. After the Davis Group World Group 1, the Serb is next set to appear at the Shanghai Masters.
