The five-game first-round triumph over the Miami Heat was, according to Boston Celtics player Jayson Tatum, a “easy” step on the road to an NBA championship. Before the Celtics’ title parade, Tatum told commentator Brian Scalabrine, “They’re always easy” in reference to the Heat. End of discussion. Jimmy Butler was benched. Uncle Tyler wasn’t feeling well. It’s time to end it.
The Heat defeated the Celtics in the 2023 Eastern Conference Finals, eliminating Boston’s title aspirations, a season prior to this victory.
Game 5 of the first-round series was a 118-84 victory over a depleted Miami squad, and Tatum finished with an average of 21.8 points and 10.4 rebounds. When compared to last year’s Game 7, in which Tatum scored just 14 points due to an ankle ailment and the Celtics lost, this was a huge improvement.

Although the Heat lost last year, Tatum praised their performance and referred to the game as “tough,” pointing out Boston’s mistakes and bad shooting. They were masters of the shoot.
