Olivia Rodrigo, an American singer-songwriter, cheered on Chelsea as they took on Liverpool in their Premier League opener on Sunday at Stamford Bridge.
This was the first football game the 20-year-old Deja Vu singer had ever attended, but she had “the best time” there anyhow.
After the game, Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell presented her with a blue football shirt bearing the number eight and her surname.
On Twitter, the club announced, “New Chelsea fan unlocked: Olivia Rodrigo,” while on Instagram, the club’s official account proclaimed, “Olivia Rodrigo is a Blue!” #CheLiv.”
While taking over their Instagram account, Rodrigo proclaimed, “Hey, my nаme is Olivia Rodrigo and today I am at the Bridge for my very first football game.”
“I’m so glad I was able to come; I had a fantastic time.”
It happened after Mauricio Pochettino’s debut game in charge, a 1-1 draw with Liverpool on Sunday. Pochettino was hired in June.
Chilwell, in his blue football jersey, and Rodrigo, in a green floral dress and brown suede knee-high boots, smiled for the camera.
Chilwell had a goal disallowed because video review determined he was offside, but the team won thanks to a goal from Axel Disasi in his first game for the club.
