When it comes to the Los Angeles Lakers, Derek Fisher is right up there with the best of them. Fisher is now a coach after retiring from the NBA, where he won five championships with the Los Angeles Lakers.Fisher coached the New York Knicks from 2014 to 2016, and she will do the same with the Los Angeles Sparks of the WNBA in 2019 to 2022. It has recently been reported that he will be coaching for the Crespi Celts of Carmelite High School in Encino, California.

Along with Nick Van Exel, ‘D Fish’ is one of two former Lakers stars who have returned to school. He’s the Lakers’ second all-time leader in three-pointers made, trailing only Kobe Bryant.

Apparently, high school is the next step for Fisher, as reported by Tarek Fattal of SB Live.D’Anthony ‘Shake’ Milton of the Philadelphia 76ers, Brandon Williams of the Portland Trail Blazers, and London Perrantes, previously of the Virginia Cavaliers, are all alumni of the institution.

Andrew Moore, who coached at Crespi for four years, left his post on July 26. Crespi competes in the Mission League, which is regarded as one of the most difficult in all of California and the United States.

According to Brian Bilek, Crespi’s athletic director, the school is “honored” and “excited” for Fisher’s arrival since he “brings to Crespi his strong work ethic, leadership, and discipline that are rooted in his Christian faith.”Fisher, a former first-round pick for the Lakers, played with the likes of Shaquille O’Neal, Kobe Bryant, and others during his time with the team. In Los Angeles, he played for and later taught eighth grade boys basketball under the tutelage of NBA legend Phil Jackson.

The opportunity to become part of the Crespi family is deeply meaningful to me and my family,” Fisher said in a statement. “Working with the next generation of young student-athletes is something that truly excites me, and I look forward to continuing this focus.”
