After we all waved goodbye to Land Rover’s box-shaped icon back in 2016, it didn’t take them long to bring it back. Now, JLR Classic’s Works Bespoke division allow you to build your perfect Defender, so we just had to take a look…
Rugged as a pair of old boots. Dependable more than the family Labrador. Defenders have a way of coming into your life with the full intention of being used as a practical and functional machine, and yet sneak their way into your heart. It seems Land Rover Classic have had the same feelings, and despite the general production of the Defender closed back in 2016, the brand’s Works Bespoke division is allowing us to get creative with some of the Defender’s greatest hits.
Customisation in both 90 and 110 variants, the Classic Defender V8 is the result of hundreds of hours of craft. Remastered from the ground up, a donor vehicle receives a range of upgrades developed for optimal road holding and ride comfort, preserving Defender’s capability and everyday drivability. Once you’ve finalised your design with the Works team, they will carefully source a Defender from 2012-2016 before going to work on stripping, upgrading and rebuilding the vehicle to an exacting specification.
Being a product of Land Rover, the options and customisation styles are endless, but in true Classic Driver tones we opted for an exterior shade of Amethyst Grey Purple with the Heritage grille up front, with contrasting Sequoia Green Leather bringing together our brand colours perfectly. The possibilities really are endless, so we urge you to waste an hour or two on their detailed configurator!
